Different types of brooms for different tasks offered at Nessentials
Nessentials carries a wide variety of different German and Swiss brooms for different sweeping tasks. The different sizes and materials like horse hair, goat's hair, Arenga are for different sweeping tasks. Find out which broom suits your needs best. All of them are upright brooms, except the Swiss Move Broom Smokey and UX broom 40 cm, which can be set into a push broom position. The regular size of the German broom heads is 28 cm x 8 cm x 9 cm (ca. 12 ½" x 3” x 3 ½") and applies for all if not mentioned otherwise. All of Nessentials brooms are made of natural or recycled materials. Please do not forget to order a matching handle (German thread size) as all of our broom heads need a German threaded handle, which is about 55 inch long and needs to be ordered separately except the broom is explicitly offered with handle. The little brush cleaning brush A 5315 is very helpful to clean the broom after use so that it performs at its best all the time for a very long time.
Different materials used as bristles are for different tasks:
are the best sweepers for all indoor floors: tiles, wood, laminate, vinyl, terracotta, concrete, etc. Horsehair brooms are able to sweep up the tiniest bits of dust and dirt. It is especially effective on wood floors because its natural characteristics keep it from scratching the floor. Horse Hair Sweepers are champion performers on smooth floors. They can also be used to catch cobwebs from ceilings and walls.
The different classical German broom heads we carry are all equipped with 100 % natural horse hair, there are no synthetic fibers mixed in between, which makes a huge difference in the performance. The difference between the offered horse hair brooms is the length and amount of hair used for the broom as well as the quality of softer horse mane and still soft but sturdier tail hair. The more hair a broom has the more dirt is picked up in one sweep, the sturdier the hair, the longer it can last. All brooms are very good brooms, the amount and quality of the hair makes the price difference.
A 1101 Room Broom Pure Horse Hair has shorter and softer mane hair and is a good choice if your place is smaller or has only a kitchen, bathrooms and an entrance to be swept.
A1110 is equipped with the same hair, but this one is handmade, larger (40 cm x 18 cm x 18 cm (ca. 16" x 7" x 7") and the hair covers the wood all around which is especially good to sweep baseboard or walls and not hit furniture with the wood.
A 1161 Swiss Broom OEKO has about 8 cm more sweeping width than the other broom heads. It can be easily handled on large open areas.
A 1115 Hand Made Room Broom Horse Hair is the classic German broom from the good old times, handmade with sturdy black horse hair and a softer white “beard”.
A 1161 Swiss Horshair Broom OEKO extra wide
Swiss Room Broom OEKO is for all indoor floors and also made of 100% pure sturdy horsehair. The brush body is made of untreated, FSC®-certified Swiss beechwood. It is a bit wider as the traditional German brooms and measures 38 cm x 9 cm x 8 cm (ca. 15" x 3" x 3 ¼").
A 1107 Large Hall Broom with Handle is a large push broom with long horse hair and with synthetic fibers mixed in between to keep it in shape, because the horse hair would bend over time when used as a push broom. The waxed beech wood body has a metal attachment for the handle without thread that needs to be attached with a screw.

A 1171 UX Broom horse hair 40 cm with handle
Comes from the same Swiss manufacturer Ebnat as the Smokey, the same horse hair is used but it has a 3 position joint and is differently shaped and sized especially to get into narrow spaces. This one can also be set into the push broom position. ÜX broom, full horsehair measures 40 cm x 4 cm (ca. 16" x 1 ½") and is wider but narrower than the regular sized brooms. Is a mini version of the broom above with all it’s capabilities to be set in different positions for easy reach. It measures 16 cm x 4 cm. (ca. 6" x 1 ½") and reaches in narrow space, great for brushing off AC openings, the top of door frames or any surfaces with openings. Goat’s hair is very dust attracting and very soft. Goat’s hair broom are the most effective to dust off/ sweep shiny wooden or marble floors. Every broom has a different pattern with white, grey and black goat's hair, so it will be a surprise how your broom will look, because these brooms are handmade and differently each time from very skilled visually impaired brush makers and it is amazing what great patterns they create. A3061 Dusting Broom Goat's Hair 3 colors is light weight and is most effective to especially dust off/ sweep shiny wooden or marble floors. Two different colors of varnished wood are used for the brush body and it is just beautiful to look at. For A1109 Dusting Broom Vienna Style Goat's Hair 2-3 colors the same goat’s hair is used but this one is larger (40 cm x 18 cm x 18 cm (ca. 16" x 7" x 7") and the hair covers the wood all around which is especially good to sweep baseboard or walls and not hit furniture with the wood. It also can be very well used to dust off/ sweep ceilings, large pictures and mirrors. Dust Brush Goat's Hair Vienna Style is hand made.
Every brush has a different pattern with white, grey and black goat's hair, Made in Germany. Brush in picture is a sample pattern, every brush is different. Handmade in Germany by Blindenwerkstatt.
We discontinued all other outdoor brooms with plant fibers like coconut fiber, straw or bassine because Arenga is just the best for outside to sweep streets, walkways, patios, driveways, garages etc. Arenga is obtained from the leaf fibers of the Asian sugar palm. Its natural color is dark grey to black. Arenga is finer and softer than other palm fibers, but is nevertheless tough and elastic. Thanks to its lack of sensitivity to wetness, it is ideal for brushes for outdoor use.
A 1116 Garage Broom Arenga has very stiff Arenga plant bristles and is good for outside or garages to sweep up larger bits and pieces and leaves.
